Anyway, if I had to pick one band as making the greatest contribution to psychedelic music so far, I think I'd go with System7 - especially factoring in all the legends they've collaborated with.

Dead Flowers - Altered State Circus and especially the track warm within you definitely need to check that.
Psychomuzak the extacie is also a great track

Ever heard Acid Bath? Not sure how it integrates with the psychedelic experience, but the lyrics are trippy as they get. I've spent a bit of time with Daxx, the lead vocalist, and he is definitely on the right wavelength. His newer projects are quite a bit softer, indie-ish, if that's your thing, but I love acid bath!

@staler "other things" wow Frank Sinatra! I've never braved full-lounge before! - but I do flirt with some other warped 1950s instrumental sleazy listening. I blame Quirk who opened a live set once with an impossibly skewiff LP track from that era - all Stereo and wobbly space age. Check "exotica" archive up at Trunk records for first wave playful experimental sounds.

^I think SiP rates Delia Derbyshire - random 1966 7" with her on bleeps

Fascinating tho, finding a common music and then exploring other stuff that's unfamiliar. For instance, I've never heard any Tool (or Bowie or pretty much any music in a regular outlet...I think it's the words that turn me off). There's so much music, almost feels like homework to listen to all the 'classics' - more drawn to veer off path and hear new stuff too.

Bandcamp is cool - to surf through collections a bit and see what else is out there.
